Dear family and friends,
Aaahhhh!!!!! Guess what? We finally have our opportunity to go to Mozambique!!! (Well, at least one of us this time!) Thank you for your prayers, not one of them was wasted! Thank you for your encouragement, every word was taken to heart! And thank you for sowing financially to get us started on our way!
I (Sara) have been given this amazing, exciting, unbelievable opportunity to go with 29 others (including 2 of our amazing "adopted" daughters) to trek across Mozambique and South Africa for 2 weeks with Georgian and Winnie Banov (Global Celebration) and Rolland and Heidi Baker (Iris Ministries)!!!!! As you can see, we are a little excited!
I leave New York City on July 31 and come back to NYC on August 13. The trip includes a stop at Harvest Mission School, sitting in the dirt with children at Iris Pemba Base (my favorite part!), church in the dump with those who live there, ministry in the streets, feeding the poor, praying for healing, and pouring out extravagant love! We also will have daily devotions with the Banovs and much time with the Bakers! (For those not familiar with the Banovs, they primarily minister to the gypsies, a hated and despised people group, in eastern Europe.)
So many of you have partnered with us through this journey as our hearts have been drawn to Mozambique and so many of you have said, "If you ever get the opportunity to go..." So here it is!!! We still need to raise $4,500.00 in just 3 weeks to cover all expenses and bring some much needed supplies with me to these ministries. Aaahhhh, again!!!! In our own strength and abilities this seems absolutely impossible, but with our God, all things are possible!!! This is a real stretch for us but we know God's hand is all over this trip. Heidi Baker and her son, Sergio (our classmate), are even praying for all of the preparations to come together! They are also praying about our whole family going to Mozambique in the future!
God led our family to set aside an account designated just for missions a few years ago. We've so far used that account for saving for Mozambique and for our Thailand trip but we know it will get more use this year as Daren will be interning at CSSM this year and I will refine some keyboard, cello, and djembe skills through CSSM worship track. (Yes, that does mean we will stay in our little apartment in Fort Worth one more year!) We know another trip to Thailand is coming in the spring and a trip to Israel (hopefully with the boys!) will come in the spring or next summer, both connected with CSSM. We know God has called our family to nations and that has been confirmed by every leader in our lives in the past few years. God has been highlighting pennies to us for a long time, symbolizing stopping for the one in front of us, but ever since we came back from Thailand, we have been finding international coins! It's very interesting timing to connect with the Bakers as they are starting a base in Thailand soon. We are exploring with God options regarding ministering as a family in Thailand for a time after the intern year, as our hearts are forever joined with the beautiful Thai people!
If God is leading you to sow financially towards Sara's Mozambican trip or the 2012 trips to Thailand and Israel, or towards our ministry in general, that would be amazing and we would pray 1000 fold blessing* back to you! If He is leading you to sow in prayer for these trips or this ministry, we are desparate for these and would be so blessed! If He is leading you to share about this ministry or a testimony that impacted you, others would be blessed and Jesus would be glorified! We thank you for your partnership with us! We love you!

*1000 fold blessing testimony: God led us to sow $10.00 into each of our classmates' ministries at graduation from CSSM. We prayed 1000 fold increase over all of them. The next day a classmate called and said she received a $10,000.00 check! Two days later she and her husband received $13,000.00 more! She and her husband are attending Harvest Mission School in Pemba, Mozambique in June! Praise God!
