Reasons To Overcome the Fear of 'Going'
1. God's compassionat heart for the lost treasures, His desire to run to them and meet them on the road.
- prodigal son
- the one lost sheep, coin
- angels rejoice in heaven
- Jesus touched lepers and ate with sinners
2. Their destiny, their opportunity for salvation, healing, deliverance, and walking with God in the calling and gifting to take their place in His plan.
- Isaiah 61
- Romans 12
- Jeremiah 29:11-13
- We carry the life-giving power and person of the Holy Spirit around, in, and upon us. We need to believe that the Lord is able to meet the needs of others.
- They need to know they are invited to the banquet.
3. Our destiny, which for everyone, has to include being a witness for Jesus Christ.
- You SHALL be my witnesses... (after receiving the power of the Holy Spirit). The Dunamis is the power, the Exousia is the right and authority to use the Dunamis power. Understanding of this leads us in the direction of our destiny. We will not step into all that God has for us if we nelgect doing and being something this fundamental, a witness. We are both a recipient and a co-laborer in the restoration of all things.
4. Our obedience, because Jesus has commanded us to go.
- Go (as you are going) into all the world and preach the gospel. From the sending out of the 12, the 72, and the rest of us through the Great Commission, the message is always to GO! Not going is not an option, it is disobedience and a lack of understanding of what it means to follow Jesus Christ.
Who are we to stand in the way? Why would we want to let our fears place a blockade and limitation of the advancement of God's Kingdom on earth?
God's compassionate heart, the peoples' destinies, our own destiny, and our obedience to God's command to go are sufficient reasons. Let's let perfect love cast out all fear, ask God for the power to carry His message forward, and let's join Him in what He loves to do, seek and save that which is lost and restore His creation.
